The Fourth Ammendment to the Consitution States:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

On December 31, 2011, with the approval of Congress, President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), allowing indefinite detention without charge or trial into law for the first time in American history. The NDAA’s dangerous detention provisions would authorize the president — and all future presidents — to order the military to pick up and indefinitely imprison people captured anywhere in the world, far from any battlefield. This include's US Citizens!!! Hello!!! Does anyone see a conflict here?

Fortunately, the Oakland County Commissioners, who swore an Oath to defend and uphold the Constitution saw through this Federal violation of our Constitutional rights. They unanimously approved a resolution "condemning any and all attempts by the General Government branch of our Federal system to kidnap or indefinitely detain Americans without charge or proper trial." The Oakland County Commissioners, much like our founders, realize that the right to due process is a God given right and no one should be able to infringe on the life, liberty, or property of another without due cause. It's the government's job to uphold these laws, no violate them. We salute all Oakland County Commissioners who had the courage to bravely stand up and defend the Constitution. A special thank you to congressional candidates Kerry Bentivolio and Don Volaric who supported this resolution, and to all of the patriots who brought this issue to our County Commissioners.

This is just one example of how government works best at a local level where people can get involved and make a difference. There's a big election coming up. But don't forget about the local level politics where you CAN get involved and your voice CAN be heard!!!
